About John Coykendall:
John is a renowned heirloom seed saver, master gardener at Blackberry Farm, and a champion of biodiversity and the Ark of Taste. “Seeds carry with them more than the potential to sustain people as food; they are living history of the people who cared and tended to them and cultivated them and passed them down.”
About Red Beans & Rice:
Red Beans & Rice is a delicious, egalitarian and a centuries old dish. The dish is steeped in community and there are so many wonderful food memories, historical and cultural anecdotes surrounding Red Beans and Rice. This viewing party adds to the rich history of the dish!
About the Seeds Trust activation:
Seeds Trust will have a booth offering interactive seed saving demonstrations and sharing the stories of a couple special seed varieties in their catalogue. Come learn wet method seed saving, try out winnowing and cleaning seed, and discuss how you can rejoin the ritual of seed saving. Seeds Trust is a 30 year old small seed company helping customers learn to save their own seed and provide high-altitude, heirloom, open-pollinated vegetable, native grass and wildflower seeds.
