Board of Directors Position Description

Joining the Slow Food Denver Board is an extraordinary opportunity for a community member who is excited about being more engaged in and affecting change in their local food system. The primary responsibility of the board is to support the work of Slow Food Denver through fundraising and general awareness building for the organization’s mission. While day-to-day operations are led by the Executive Director, the Youth Program Director and the Program Coordinator, the Board-Staff relationship is a partnership, and the involvement of the Board is both critical and expected.

Slow Food Denver will host three signature events each year that serve as the anchors to support the work done by the organization on a daily basis. These include the Annual Dinner Gala (held on a farm in September), the Online Fundraising Campaign (November), and the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Day (June event). In addition to attending and supporting the success of these events, the Slow Food Denver Board will be responsible for participating in one annual planning retreat meeting in early November and five (most via Zoom) board meetings throughout the year.

The Slow Food Denver Board has an executive team made up of the board chair, secretary, finance officer, and EIJ officer. The Executive Committee is open to existing board members with an interest. Appointments will be made on an annual basis. The executive committee will meet quarterly; executive committee meetings are open to any board members with an interest to attend.

Advisory Board Position Description

Joining the Slow Food Denver Advisory Board is an extraordinary opportunity for a community member who is excited about being more engaged in and affecting change in their local food system but doesn’t have the capacity to serve on the Board of Directors. The primary responsibility of the Advisory Board is to support the work of Slow Food Denver by providing advice and counsel to the Board and staff, as-needed, which will ultimately assist with our fundraising and general awareness building for the organization’s mission.
