VOLUNTEER WITH SLOW FOOD DENVER!

Slow Food Denver is a volunteer-driven organization who relies on the community for continued success. Volunteer opportunities most frequently happen in conjunction with our events and community garden days, and can range from guest check-in, digging in the dirt, and more!

Additionally, we are always open to new projects and ways to advance our mission, and many of these projects come from our volunteer team. If you have an idea that will help advance our mission of Good, Clean, and Fair Food for All, send us your idea along with ways that you’d like to be involved.

If you would like to join our volunteer team, please sign up for one of our opportunities, or contact us with questions!

in partnership with Grow Local CO

Starting in June, we will be meeting Monday mornings at the Civic Center Gardens to assist GLC in tending to growing spaces that help reduce food insecurity.

WHAT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
DO WE HOST?

Garden and Farm Summer Volunteer Mornings â€‹

Every summer, we offer a range of garden and farm volunteer mornings that bring our community to local growing spaces to help producers in their efforts to feed their community or provide food insecurity relief. Over time, we have honed this program to make it more successful and productive for the producers we partner with. In 2025, we will be partnering with Grow Local Colorado to provide weekly opportunities from June to September, excluding holiday weeks. This partnership is meant to support their ongoing vital community work. Join the Slow Food Denver staff Monday mornings this summer to help grow a better future!

Group & Corporate Volunteering

In 2025, we will continue to offer volunteer opportunities with the local farms listed below: Ekar, DPS, and Fleischer. Groups of 5+ people are welcome to reach out to our team at info@slowfooddenver.org to have a customized volunteer experience coordinated to best suit their needs. Farmers rely on reliable help to support their growing efforts, particularly nonprofit, small farms. Thus, we do ask that when committing to a group or corporate volunteer opportunity, you do so with reasonable certainty that the date and time will work for your whole group.

If you are interested in a corporate volunteer outing, we are happy to accommodate this. Typically, we offer this in exchange for a donation to Slow Food Denver. The experience typically includes a locally procured breakfast prepared on the farm to be enjoyed after volunteering. Additionally, this opportunity can include an education element, depending on the farmers bandwidth.

Seed to Plate Volunteering

Our youth education Seed to Plate program brings cooking and gardening classes to students in the Denver area on a weekly basis to learn vital skills and enjoy nutritious meals. This important program requires the assistance of volunteers. Each class has one Seed to Plate instructor and one volunteer. You are welcome to sign up for one class or assist for a whole term. Either way, we are grateful for the support for these meaningful lessons.

Event and Workshop Volunteering

We host a variety of events, ranging from our annual Slow Food Farm Dinner to semi-monthly workshops. for each of these events, we need volunteers to help things run smoothly. The best way to know about upcoming volunteer opportunities at events, is to subscribe to our newsletter. However, you are also welcome to email info@slowfooddenver.org to inquire.

WHO DO WE HOST VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES WITH?

Gardening at Civic Center Park – Join Slow Food Denver and Grow Local Colorado for a morning of tending to the gardens.  We will be weeding, planting, harvesting, and enjoying the Denver morning sun. All of the produce harvested from these gardens is donated to local food banks and shelters in the Denver area such as Metro Caring, SAME Cafe, and The Gathering Place.  With your help we can donate fresh, organic produce to those in need!

DPS Farm –  Denver Public Schools offers two growing spaces, one at Schmitt Elementary and one at Bradley International School. The school system has unique plans for each space, but both will become valuable growing spaces for the community as they provide experiential learning opportunities and sustenance to be used in the schools. We are excited to expand our longstanding and positive relationship with these schools as our educational programs continue to expand beyond the classroom.
