Rhea Mech

I’m currently a student at the University of Denver, majoring in Communication Studies with minors in Sociology and Sustainability. At DU I am a member of the Undergraduate Student Government Sustainability Committee where I, with my fellow committee members, help fund on-campus projects that relate to sustainability. Although I’ve been living in the Denver area since the fall of 2019, this year marks my first summer in Colorado because my past summers have been spent as a camp counselor in the north woods of Wisconsin. Throughout my years at camp, I was a photographer, media specialist, and taught many activities and workshops to campers. My favorite activities at camp were working with campers in our greenhouse, teaching them about nutrients and food waste in cooking activities, and, of course, anything involved with getting in the lake. I’m so excited to be part of the Slow Food Denver team to be able to continue my love for food, the outdoors and education, all while connecting with the local Denver community.
