Meet The Team

Meagan Palmara

I am almost always spending my time eating good food, trying to cook good food and sharing it with family and friends. As someone who spent a lot of my life enjoying good food but not thinking much about where it came from, I didn’t really understand the intricacies of our food systems, food culture, and the inequities that persist in our communities. It wasn’t until I got older and began cooking for myself that my passion for fresh, sustainable, and fair foods was ignited.

Working in education for the last 12 years naturally led me to look for opportunities to teach students where their food comes from, how to prepare delicious foods for themselves, and how everyone has the right to nutritious food. I was excited to find a position with Slow Foods to be an instructor for the Lil Sprouts program, and I am consistently inspired by students’ knowledge, questions, and enthusiasm about preparing and trying many new and different foods. I believe that when students have the opportunity to learn the story behind their food, they have the power to help build and contribute to a healthy, sustainable, and fair food system now and for generations to come.

When I am not instructing for the Lil Sprouts program, I love spending time tackling projects around my home, finding new places to visit around Denver, tending my small home garden, and my favorite thing of all, spending time with my husband, son, and dog.
