Community. Art. Food. Education.
We launched Slow Food Denver C.A.F.E. in 2011 with the intent of building community through art, food, and education. Our first venture was the Slow Food Denver C.A.F.E. microgrant project. As a result, over the past two years we have successfully awarded $9000 in microgrants to support local, sustainable food projects.
We are thrilled to announce the 2013 C.A.F.E. microgrant series! We are currently accepting applications for microgrants from individuals, small business and/or non-profits. In general, we welcome applications from sustainable food projects that support one or more of the following areas:
1) Healthy Food Access: Projects that seek to increase access to affordable, real food in low-income communities.
2) Promoting Regional Biodiversity: Projects that seek to increase,
protect and promote biodiverse food and farming traditions within communities in need.
Finalists will be notified by email and will be invited to a C.A.F.E dinner where they will present their projects to the community table. C.A.F.E. dinners stimulate community and culture by funding innovative and sustainable Metro Denver food projects. The dinners feature food and drinks from local producers in a communal, fun, and informal environment. Winners will be chosen by community vote, and will receive microgrants of up to $3000 to support their work. Applications can be found here.
Any questions can be directed to Ben Hecht by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Slow Food Denver C.A.F.E. would like to extend a special thank you to Chipotle Mexican Grill and Grow Local Colorado for their ongoing support and generosity of matching funds.
