First C.A.F.E. Dinner at Harman’s Eat & Drink

CAFE2We launched Slow Food Denver C.A.F.E. in 2011 with the intent of building community through art, food, and education.  Our first venture was the Slow Food Denver C.A.F.E. microgrant project.  As a result, over the past three years we have successfully awarded $12,000 in microgrants to support local, sustainable food projects.


Each year, Slow Food Denver, Chipotle, and Grow Local Colorado select six finalists from numerous applicants to receive micro-grants of up to $3,000, furthering the work of food-focused organizations in the Denver Metro area.

The first three finalists for this year will present their work on Monday, September 8th at Harman’s Eat & Drink, where you will decide which organization receives $3,000, which receives $1,500, and who takes home $500 (everyone wins here!)

Tickets are $65 per person, which includes cocktail reception, three courses with wine pairings, tax, gratuity, and a $40 tax-deductible contribution to the C.A.F.E. micro-grant program, helping to provide continued support to creative sustainable food organizations in Denver.

Slow Food Denver is pleased to announce our 2014 C.A.F.E. micro-grant project to support innovative and sustainable food initiatives conceived by Metro Denver area food entrepreneurs.

Slow Food Denver C.A.F.E. will host a series of dinners at which grant finalists will present their projects and/or organizations to community members, whose votes will select the winners. Winners will receive micro-grants of up to $3000 to support their work.

Who is eligible for a Slow Food Denver micro-grant?

  •  Individuals, small businesses or non-profits that operate in the Denver Metro area who are committed to Slow Food principles of good, clean, fair food and cultural diversity.
  •   Efforts which are categorized in one or more of the following areas:

1)      Healthy Food Access: Projects that seek to increase access to affordable, real food in low-income communities.

2)      Promoting Regional Biodiversity: Projects that seek to increase, protect, and promote biodiversity through sustainable food and farming practices, with a focus on communities in need.

How can I apply?

Please send completed application and one letter of reference by email to, subject: C.A.F.E. grant or snail mail to Slow Food Denver, Attn: C.A.F.E. grant, 3350 Brighton Blvd, Suite 202 Denver CO 80216.  You will receive a confirmation email once your application has been received. Finalists will be notified by email and will be invited to a C.A.F.E dinner where they will present their projects to the community table.  Winners will be chosen by community vote.
