Hello there Slow Food Denver!!
My name is Ellie Freeman and I am very honored to be joining the Slow Food Denver team as a Summer Intern. Having just earned my Masters in Nutrition from Bastyr University, I see the principles of Slow Food as inextricably tied to the principles that drive sustainable nutrition.
I was first introduced to Slow Food in VA when I was encouraged to begin a campus chapter. The more I learned about Slow Food, the more it resonated with me and I couldn’t help but devote my spare time and energy to the cultivation of it’s timeless message. Fast forward two years and here I am still avidly pursing a career that promotes good, clean, fair food within the community. As I see it, I can’t ask a future nutrition client to eat nourishing food if that food is not even available.
Therefore, Slow Food provides the foundation of my nutrition care plan. Resilient nutrition begins in the field and is appreciated around the table. As Slow Food Denver’s intern you can expect to hear from me weekly as I will outline my projects, share various discoveries and of course provide some recipes to showcase seasonal CO produce.
Ciao for now!
